Philadelphia Meteorologist Heads Back to Los Angeles After 11 Years

After 11 years of living in Philadelphia, WPVI meteorologist Melissa Magee is calling it quits.

“THAT’S A WRAP PHILLY!,” Magee said in a goodbye message on Facebook. “It’s been an incredible ride working & living in the community I served for 11 years. I’ll never forget my first week on the air at WPVI-TV: a snowstorm ❄️ that dumped 2 feet of snow in December! That was quite the introduction to Philly.”

Magee, who was born and raised in Los Angeles, is returning to be closer to her family. She had become a staple at the weekend weather wall and hosted several other segments for the ABC station over the years.

“Having such a long tenure in one spot in this biz is not lost on me,” she wrote. “That’s partly due to YOU, the viewers. Thank you for welcoming me into this Philly jawn 😉 from the moment I started. The Delaware Valley embraced me from the beginning & I’m forever grateful for the kindness shown to me.”

It’s not clear where she will end up next. WPVI hasn’t said who will take over for weather coverage on the weekends.

This is a bittersweet moment saying goodbye,” Magee continued. “I’m going to miss my colleagues, who over the years, have become some of my closest friends. I’ll cherish all of the special moments we shared. Thank you again for all of the brotherly love & sisterly affection!”

WPVI ran a segment honoring her time at the station. Watch it below.
