Phil Bruce Out at KHOU

Phil Bruce, executive news director at CBS station KHOU in Houston, Texas, will leave the station in January. The station’s general manager, Susan McEldoon, made the announcement in a memo to staff Wednesday.

“Phil has done an exceptional job in our newsroom at a time when our industry has been and continues to be challenged with audience fragmentation and economic uncertainty,” McEldoon wrote, thanking Bruce for “his significant contributions to our newsroom” and wishing him well in “the next chapter of his career.”

Bruce joined KHOU as news director in 2011 from NPR, where he was a senior network news manager. He was previously a reporter and Washington bureau chief for KHOU from 1985-1995.
