Omar Villafranca Joins CBS News From KXAS

omar villafrancaOmar Villafranca is joining CBS News as a Dallas-based correspondent for news services, the Network’s 24-hour television newsgathering service for the network’s affiliates. He will begin in his new role January 13.

Villafranca joins CBS from KXAS, the NBC owned station in Dallas, where he has been a reporter since 2008. He previously worked at KOTV in Tulsa and KSWO in Lawton, Okla.

“It’s been a great six years at NBC5. I’d like to thank (vice president of news) Susan Tully for hiring me, and everyone else for putting up with me,” Villafranca told Dallas media blogger Ed Bark. “I was lucky to work with so many great managers, editors, reporters, producers and photojournalists.”
