KOLN in Lincoln, Neb., has a new evening anchor.

Jennifer Ortega has been named co-anchor of the 5, 6 and 10 p.m. newscasts alongside Bill Schmmert, chief meteorologist Ken Siemek and sports director Kevin Sjuts.

Ortega is no stranger to viewers in the state. She has been reporting and anchoring in Nebraska. She comes from WOWT in Omaha, where she covered major stories including the bomb cyclone that triggered record flooding in the state.

During the start of the coronavirus pandemic, Ortega was on the front lines at Epply Airfield when the first travelers were quarantined from the Diamond Princess Cruise Ship.

She made her KOLN debut on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
