Oakland Anchor: ‘It’s Pathetic’ People Say Ted Cruz Is Zodiac Killer

By Kevin Eck

Frank Somerville, anchor for Fox-owned San Francisco Bay Area station KTVU, is telling people to stop saying presidential candidate Ted Cruz is the Zodiac Killer.

The internet has been asking whether the Republican presidential candidate is the serial killer who terrorized the Bay Area in the late 60s. Cruz was born in 1970, in Alberta, Canada.

Somerville says he grew up in the Bay Area around the time the Zodiac was active in the area. “He killed 5 people. Possibly many more,” Somerville wrote on SFGate. “It was a very scary time. At one point the Zodiac said in a letter that he was going to machine gun a school bus full of kids.”

He said because he rode a bus to school, he and his bus-mates had to do drills on what to do if someone had a gun.

“I also used to have recurring nightmares about the Zodiac hiding outside my bedroom window,” said Somerville. “The bottom line to me is that the Zodiac killer is not someone you joke about. My guess is that relatives of the victims would probably agree.”

I also think it’s incredibly disrespectful to print up shirts saying that a presidential candidate is a killer. And I would say the same thing if it was Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders, Ben Carson, Donald Trump, Marco Rubio or John Kasich who was on the shirt.

I don’t think it’s clever. I don’t think it’s cute. I just think it’s pathetic. But maybe that’s just me. Maybe that’s what happens when you’re 57 years old.
