Northern Lights Sells Original Content Business to KTUU GM

By Kevin Eck

Northern Lights Media says it has sold its content development business Northern Lights Originals to Andy McLeod, GM of Anchorage NBC affiliate KTUU, who will retire after 30 years at the station as part of the deal.

Andy McLeod, who started at the Gray-owned station, as an account executive in 1985, will stay on as a consultant and will maintain an office at KTUU.

Gray bought Northern Lights Media last year.

“There is a window of opportunity open for authentic, documentary style programming from Alaska,” said MacLeod. “The owner of NLM, Gray Television Inc., has given me the chance to chase a dream of building this content development business, and I appreciate their faith and the opportunity.”

Northern Lights Originals is the development arm of NLM that has co-produced original programming
for cable networks and currently has additional projects under development for cable and streaming
platforms. Most recently, NLO co-produced an eight-part series on the Barrow Whaler football team for
the NFL Network during the 2015 season.
