Viewers of Hampton Roads local stations may have wondered why there are so many new faces on-air.

The Virginia Pilot reports the market has seen an influx of on-air talent recently.

“They are the 14 new faces in the newsrooms of WAVY, WVEC and WTKR, a considerable influx of men and women in the past year or so. Some do news. Others do weather and sports,” according to the article.

As TVSpy readers know, it’s not uncommon for reporters in middle sized markets to make a jump after a year or two. It’s par for the course.

WTKR news director, Ryan Minnaugh told the Pilot,“We already had many talented people working at the station when I arrived in November of 2015. But I felt that we needed to take the next step in building a talented, aggressive newsroom.”

Hampton Roads, which includes Norfolk, is market 42.
