Nexstar named two new general managers on Tuesday.

Mike Lee was named vice president and general manager of KWKT-KTKW. He will oversee all broadcast and digital operations serving the Waco/Temple, Texas, market.

“Mike is a highly engaged leader who has deep roots in Texas and Waco,” said Julie Pruett, svp and regional manager for Nexstar Broadcasting.  “Throughout his career, he has delivered ratings and revenue growth and expanded operational service to viewers and advertisers alike.”

Lee comes from another market in Texas, where he’s been managing KMID and yourbasin.com. This is also a homecoming in a way for Lee. He served as vice president and general manager of KXXV, the ABC affiliate in Waco, for 11 years until 2016.

Nexstar named Mark Garcia to replace Lee in Midland-Odessa, Texas.

He most recently served as svp and general manager at Entravision Communications.

During his tenure at Entravision, Garcia and his team launched a major rebranding of the radio stations under his supervision, including format and programming upgrades, resulting in a 50 percent growth in ratings and significant improvement in revenue and profitability in key dayparts. Garcia also helped spearhead a first-of-its-kind radio partnership with the University of Texas/Rio Grande Valley to secure the exclusive rights to carry the university’s basketball games and a weekly coach’s show.

“Mark’s successes as a general manager of multiple media properties, sales expertise and ability to build strong relationships with viewers, advertisers and the communities in which he has worked, along with his deep connection to Texas, makes him an excellent choice to lead our broadcast and digital operations in the Midland/Odessa market,” said Pruett.

Both will start their new jobs immediately.
