Nexstar’s Portland, Ore., properties have a new vice president and general manager.
Tom Keeler, a 25-year broadcast veteran, will oversee KION, the CBS station, and KRCW, the CW station, as well as both stations’ related digital and social properties. It’s a homecoming for Keeler, who worked in the market from 1999-2003 as a local sales manager for KWBP.
“Tom’s proven leadership experience as a broadcast and sales executive, coupled with his results-driven skill sets and previous local market knowledge of the Portland community, all make him the ideal candidate to lead our growing broadcasting and digital entities at KOIN-TV, KRCW-TV and KOIN.com,” said Matthew Rosenfeld, svp and regional manager for Nexstar Broadcasting.
Keeler comes to KION and KRCW from Madison, Wis., where since 2015 he has served as the vp and gm of WISC-TV, Channel3000.com, TVW, Phase 3 Digital and Madison Magazine, which is market 81. During his time there, Keeler launched two newscasts, added 8.5 hours of new locally produced content and won several Murrow awards.
“I am grateful to Nexstar for the unique opportunity to oversee its Portland broadcast and digital operations at KOIN-TV, KRCW-TV and KOIN.com, and to return to the city that launched my broadcast management career over 21 years ago and one that we call home,” Keeler said. “The staffs at these operations are talented, experienced and committed, and together, we will work to continue generating results for our clients and enhancing the overall experience for our dedicated viewers and digital users.”
He assumes the role immediately, and will report to Rosenfeld.
