WJTVWHLT, the Nexstar owned CBS affiliate in Jackson, Mississippi, has a new news director.

The station announced news veteran, Chris Turner, will take over news operations.

“My news philosophy is simple,” Turner explained. “Get it right, get it first, get it right the first time.”

He’s now the stations 35 hours of news content.

“Mississippi is a strong news market,” says vp and general manager Jeff Guy. “There’s an appetite for consistent, local content, and we plan to use every resource available to deliver that content as well as we can, as often as we can.”

Turner’s career started at CNN, where he ran numerous bureaus across the world. He started on October 23.
