Nexstar Makes Cuts at Las Vegas Station

By Kevin Eck

TVSpy is hearing Nexstar Broadcasting has cut 18 people at its newly purchased property KLAS.

Nexstar took the Las Vegas station over from Landmark in February.

>UPDATE: Nexstar evp and COO, Brian Jones told TVSpy, the station group did have a “reduction in force” at KLAS. He added, “It is a restructure based on similar sized operations in our company. The large percentage of the reduction was in Business, Traffic and Digital which we have corporate resources serving those needs.”

Many outlets are reporting news director Ron Comings was one of the casualties. It seems Rick Gevers had it first. GM Emily Neilson announced she was stepping down in April.

FTVLive pointed us to this tweet from social media manager Barrett Tryon:

KLAS referred us to Nexstar for comment. We’ll let you know when we hear back.
