Local news in Hampton Roads has been judged by local newspaper, The Virginian-Pilot.

Writer Larry Bonko wrote up a short summation that includes the best, worst and notable facts about local stations in the market.

WAVY anchors Tom Schaad and Anita Blanton were said to be the most popular, given they rate as the most watched station according to Nielsen ratings for February, the Virginian-Pilot reports.

Other notable mentions? The Virginian-Pilot voted “We begin with breaking news” as the biggest cliche to start a newscast.
