Kena Vernon, a reporter for News 12 in New York, was doing a story about an off-duty cop who shot a man in a road rage incident in Brooklyn when someone tried to steal her purse.
The New York Daily News reports Vernon was in the station’s news van in East New York when Linda Sanchez walked up, opened the van door and grabbed Vernon’s ID and purse. The two struggled over the purse and Sanchez ran off with the ID.
She was arrested by cops who were in the area investigating the shooting. Sanchez has been charged with robbery and criminal possession of a weapon. Police say she had a 4-inch blade on her.
A News 12 spokesperson told TVSpy “The safety of our employees is a priority to us. We are fully cooperating with the local authorities and providing support to our employee.”
