New York Appeals Court Refuses to Rehear Aereo Case

By Merrill Knox

A New York appeals court has denied a request from CBS, Fox and other major broadcast networks to revisit an earlier decision that declared streaming television service Aereo legal, according to The Hollywood Reporter:

On Tuesday, in the ongoing controversy over Aereo, a service that digitally transmits over-the-air TV signals to private customers, the appeals court denied a petition to have the dispute reviewed en banc.  One Second Circuit judge requested a poll be taken, but a majority of judges agreed that it was unwise to reconsider. The move means that Aereo’s April victory stands and that the case continues at the trial court.

Both CBS and Fox released statements after the decision vowing to continue the legal battle against Aereo and other streaming television services.
