Kweilyn Murphy is leaving New Orleans NBC affiliate WDSU on Friday to work on the weather team at WTVD in Raleigh, N.C.

She is heading back to North Carolina to be closer to family, and will also be entering a bigger market at the Raleigh station.

“I have loved my time at WDSU,” the morning meteorologist told Nola.com. “My colleagues are the best of the best.”

Murphy started at WDSU as a weekend meteorologist eight years ago after working in Greenville, N.C. and at KDKA in Pittsburgh, Pa. before that.

Her career began at WQED Multimedia, where her station bio says “she worked with the likes of Mister Rogers and helped to produce several national Doo Wop television productions and station events.”
