FOX61, the Tribune-owned Fox affiliate in Hartford, Connecticut, is opening a bureau on the University of New Haven’s campus.

The partnership will allow students to get involved in the production of local news coverage.

“It will provide all of our students with an opportunity to observe closely — right on their own campus — how the news is gathered, edited, and broadcast,” said Steven H. Kaplan, president of the University of New Haven.

“Our partnership reinforces our commitment to our viewers in the southern tier of the state and provides an authentic learning experience for students pursuing an education in the field of journalism and communications,” vice president and general manager of FOX61 and WCCT/CW Television, Jon Hitchcock.

Reporters will be based in the new bureau, including senior reporter, Tony Terzi, will report daily from the bureau.
