New Hampshire Weathercaster Let Go After 25 Years

His over-the-top eccentric flare has made New Hampshire weatherman Al Kaprielian an iconic fixture, but the Derry TV station hes called home for a quarter-century isn’t in his forecast anymore.

Kaprielian–whose offbeat style and screechy voice have given him a cult-like status–was handed a pink slip this holiday season along with seven other “MyTV” employees.

“They’re doing some downsizing here. I’m going to stay in the area though. Ive been up here 26 years,” said the 48-year-old meteorologist, whose last day is Dec. 31. “It was a great run. It’s out of my hands. That’s what they wanted to do.”

A Natick native, Kaprielian said he’d love to break into the Boston TV market. “Boston’s not an easy place to get into. I wouldnt mind it someday. Well see what happens,” he said. More…
