, the longtime Healthwatch reporter for Chicago’s WMAQ, has announced her departure from the NBC-owned station.

Kwan, whose last day was last Wednesday, started at the station as a weekend news anchor back in 1994. Prior to joining WMAQ, Kwan worked at KHOU, the CBS affiliate in Houston.

“I want to thank Nesita for her many years of service to our news team,” Frank Whittaker, station manager and vice president of news at WMAQ, wrote to staffers in a memo.

Chicago media writer Robert Feder got a peek at Kwan’s goodbye letter to her colleagues, which reads in part:

As I look back over the last two decades, I see an abundance of good fortune and blessing: that’s one of the reasons it’s hard to leave this well-traveled path… But for me, it’s also undoubtedly time to take this fork in the road, leading to the next phase in my life.

Kwan was most recently a general assignment reporter. The station has yet to name her replacement.
