Vince Nelson can now drop “acting” from the front of his title. Freedom Broadcasting announced this week that Nelson, who has been the acting General Manager of Albany’s WRGB and WCWN since June, has been named the stations’ Vice President and General Manager.

“Vince and his entire team have been doing a stellar job of driving the success of the stations,” Freedom Broadcasting President Tom Herwitz said.

Nelson joined the Albany CBS- and CW-affiliates in February of 2009 as General Sales Manager. He took the promotion as an opportunity to announce that WRGB was set to launch a 4:30 a.m. newscast on December 13. “We’re always looking for even more ways to serve our viewers, advertising partners and community,” Mr. Nelson said of the new 4:30 start.

Nelson has 25 years of experience in broadcast media. He got his start as an account executive for a radio station in Youngstown, OH. Since then he has held sales management positions at TV stations in Youngstown, Parkersburg, WV, and Duluth, MN.
