KOLN-KGIN anchor Bill Schammert is getting a promotion.

Schammert, who currently co-anchors the stations’ 5 p.m. news, will now add 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. duties as well.

“It is an honor and humbling experience. This is a station I grew up watching,” Schammert said on-air this week.

“Bill has quickly earned the respect of people in our newsroom and can often be found helping and developing other reporters,” added Shannon Booth, vice president and general manager of the stations that serve the Nebraska cities and areas surrounding Lincoln, Grand Island, Hastings and Kearney.

Schammert grew up in Lincoln and interned at the Gray-owned NBC affiliate. He previously worked as a reporter-anchor at KOKH in Oklahoma City.
