WRDE has announced it will soon relaunch as an NBC affiliate.
The Rehoboth Beach, DE, station will be the only Delaware based station affiliated with a major network when it launches in June.
“I felt there was a need in this community,” WRDE president Bob Backman told the Cape Gazette. “There was a glaring omission. NBC is the No. 1 rated network in the country, and this area deserves programming that is local, local, local.”

According to the release, WRDE will broadcast in the Salisbury, MD, DMA and offer a 6:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. news available in both standard and high definition on Comcast, in standard definition on DISH Network and over the air on channel 31.1.
