‘My Hard-Earned Reputation is Intack,’ Says Producer Fired from KTVU

By Kevin Eck

Roland De Wolk, one of three producers reportedly let go from San Francisco Bay Area FOX affiliate KTVU, said he doesn’t think being connected to the on-air gaffe that went viral will affect his career.

“My hard-earned reputation is intack (sic),” De Wolk told The Wrap‘s Sara Morrison. “There are lawyers, so eager as I am to anser (sic) all questions, I must refrain.”

De Wolk talked about the spelling errors with TVSpy, “Naturally, I know what it’s like to be on deadline and out of professional courtesy I quickly responded on my iPhone to Ms. Morrison’s request for comment.”

The investigative producer is reported to be one of three producers KTVU let go along with Brad Belstock and Cristina Gastelu. On July 12, the station identified the pilots of crashed Asiana Flight 214 as “Captain Sum Ting Wong,” Wi Tu Lo,” “Ho Lee Fuk,” and “Bang Ding Ow.”

Yesterday, KTVU general manager Tom Raponi told TVSpy the station does not comment on personnel matters.

DeWolk is also a Journalism instructor at San Francisco State University. In his”Rate My Professors” profile, he is listed as a good professor who teaches a difficult class.
