A murder suspect showed up at Bakersfield NBC affiliate KGET Sunday night to proclaim his innocence before surrendering to police.

KGET said Brendan Sanders showed up at the station around 9:00 p.m. Sunday night with some friends. Police said they think Sanders murdered one man and wounded a teenager last month.

“I’m innocent and I don’t want to get accused of something that I didn’t do,” Sanders told KGET in an interview before he was taken into custody.

KGET news director Mike Trihey called police who arrested Sanders at the station.

According to KGET, Sanders and his friends said another reason they showed up was to retrieve the reward from the secret witness program for Sander’s arrest.
