Morning Anchor Switch Announced at KOLN

By Kevin Eck

KOLN morning anchor Erika Tallan (pictured left) confirmed she was leaving the Lincoln CBS affiliate and introduced her replacement, Melanie Bloom (pictured right), on this morning’s newscast.

Tallan posted the news to her facebook page saying, “Leaving a job and community you love is never easy but neither is living many miles away from the people you love most. So, I am taking a morning reporter job at a TV station in Kansas City, which will allow me to follow my heart.”

This is Bloom’s second stint at KOLN she and husband, Rusty Dawkins, previously worked at the Lincoln station before leaving for KAAL in Austin, MN.  Dawkins is the weekend meteorologist for KOLN.

On this morning’s newscast Bloom told Tallan, “I know that we’re all sad that you’re leaving because you’ve been so great here at 10/11.   So I feel honored to be able to fill your seat there.” Bloom added, “My family and I just decided that we love this area so much.

There’s no word on which station Tallan will be working for in Kansas City.  She told the Lincoln Journal Star, she “will announce her new employer at a later date once details have been finalized.”
