Mississippi Station Knocked Off Air by Lightning

Just before Tuesday’s 5 p.m. newscast, Jackson, Miss. station WAPT was knocked off the air by lightning strikes that kept the station dark through the 6 p.m. news.

“NO POWER 🌩⚡️ The current situation at WAPT…” the station posted on Facebook. “TWO Cloud to Ground lightning strikes hit. We lost power and our generators are not cooperating. Now 3K without power.”

The station says power was restored a little more than two hours later.
