Minnesota Anchor Leaves for Omaha, Station Names Replacement

Former KAAL anchor James Wilcox (pictured left) is joining Omaha ABC affiliate KETV next Monday.

He’s been replaced at the Rochester, Minnesota ABC affiliate by Karsen Forsman (pictured right), who joined the station a month after graduating from St. Cloud State in 2015.

“Few people in television news get the chance to work in their hometown market,” Wilcox told the Rochester Post-Bulletin about his time in Rochester. “I consider myself lucky. ABC 6 took a chance on me, and the station always let me be myself. For that, I’m grateful.”

Wilcox joined KAAL in 2009 and, like Forsman, went to St. Cloud State.

“Leaving ABC 6 has been one of the most difficult decisions I’ve ever had to make,” he said. “I’m sad to say goodbye, but I’m excited for a new adventure. Thank you to everyone who has made me feel so welcome. It’s been an honor being your newsman.”

“James has always been someone in the newsroom that I go to for help,” Forsman told radio station KROC. “Since day one he’s been there if I ever needed help writing or piecing together a story. One piece of advice that he left me with is to be yourself on TV.”
