Minneapolis Stations Talk to Friends, Family of Missing Cruise Ship Passengers

Minneapolis stations have been reporting this weekend on Jerry and Barbara Heil, the Minnesota couple that remain missing after Friday night’s Costa Concordia cruise disaster.

The Heils are a retired couple from White Bear Lake, MN, with four children and 15 grandchildren. Friends and family of the couple have been sharing thoughts with the area’s local stations as the search for the pair continues in Italy.

“[Jerry] didn’t ask for a lot of recognition for what he did. He was the silent leader,” Duane Jabas, a friend of Jerry, told CBS O&O WCCO.

“It’s shocking. I’m very worried,” Jeannine Jaworski, a neighbor of the couple, told Fox O&O KMSP. “They’re great people.”

In addition to talking to people familiar with the couple, several reporters –including Bryan Piatt from KARE, Scott Wasserman from KMSP and Tim Sherno from KSTP — are at the Heil family church, where an around-the-clock vigil is being held for the couple.
