Minneapolis Anchor Randy Shaver is Cancer Free for Second Time

KARE anchor Randy Shaver has kicked cancer’s butt, twice.

The Minneapolis anchor announced his nine month battle with prostate cancer was over on Twitter Friday. He posted a message along with a dancing baby gif.

“The feeling you get when you find out your prostate cancer treatments worked! Doctor says you’re officially 2for2!!!”

He also celebrated with a cake with his son, KARE reporter Ryan Shaver and other colleagues.

Shaver was first diagnosed with cancer in 1998. He was celebrating 20 year cancer free when he got the second diagnosis.

Shaver joined the station in 1983 as a sports reporter and later served as sports director from 1994 to 2012. That year he was named co-anchor of the evening news broadcasts along with Julie Nelson.
