WISN, the ABC-affiliate in Milwaukee, has named Jeremy Nelson to a hybrid post of weekend meteorologist/ web reporter. According to the station, Nelson will anchor the weather on weekends and blog about the weather on throughout the week.

Nelson is a midwest native who may be familiar to some Wisconsin viewers as he served as chief meteorologist at Madison’s WMSN. Nelson comes to WISN from Kansas City’s KSHB, where he held the position of weekend meteorologist.

“Jeremy’s passion for weather brings a lot of energy to his weather reports and stories for the Web,” says Lori Waldon, WISN’s news director. “We are very excited to have him, and he is equally excited about being here.”

The announcement comes as Lance Hill, the weathercaster who used to anchor weekends at WISN, has made comments critical of the way the station handled his exit. Hill told the magazine OnMilwaukee recently that his old position with the station was “changing into more of a general assignment reporter, and doing more reporting than actual weather.”
