WISN, the Milwaukee ABC affiliate, has named Melinda Davenport co-anchor of the morning news.

According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Davenport has been filling in as co-anchor for the show since December. She joined the station last March as the morning show’s breaking news anchor.

Before coming to WISN, Davenport worked at WMUR in Manchester, N.H. She has also worked at WCAX in Burlington, Vermont.

Mornings remain one of the most competitive, and lucrative, segments of local news competition. During the February sweeps rating period, WISN-TV ranked second during weekdays from 4:30 a.m. to 7 a.m. with a 3.4 rating, behind WITI-TV (Channel 6), which had a 4.4 rating.
