Milwaukee Anchor Announces Departure

By Kevin Eck

Telling viewers she was “going to change gears a bit” after 36 years at the station, WISN anchor Kathy Mykleby said she would continue anchoring the 6 p.m., but leave the 10 p.m. newscast to report.

“I think it’s going to be really wonderful,” Mykleby said when she told viewers the change would happen at the end of November.

The Milwaukee Business Journal reports WISN will announce Mykleby’s replacement in a couple of weeks.

“Kathy is a trailblazer and a true treasure,” said president ad GM Jan Wade. “It is a privilege to work with such an accomplished journalist, plus she’s a really great person.”

From the MBJ:

Executives at Milwaukee’s ABC affiliate now will have the chance to select anchors who may revive ratings on a key newscast that has slipped to third place behind Milwaukee Fox Network affiliate WITI-TV (Channel 6) and NBC affiliate WTMJ-TV (Channel 4).
