WCCO anchor Mike Binkley says he’s retiring from local TV after 34 years.

Binkley started his career in Topeka, Kansas and later moved to Cincinnati, Ohio. He started at KSTP in Minneapolis in 1986 and worked there for 20 years before joining CBS-owned WCCO in 2008.

“Time to share what I’ve quietly been telling my colleagues over the past few months,” Binkley wrote on his facebook page. “I’m going to retire from TV news in early December.”

Binkley went on to say “It’s been an unforgettable 34 years — 27 of them here in the Twin Cities. I’ve enjoyed the entire run, but life is short and I’m looking forward to pursuing other activities and interests while I’m still ‘young.'”

His last day is December 6.
