When WFOR anchor Frances Wang dealt with debilitating skin issues last year, she was public about her struggle. So when the CBS Miami anchor saw photos of her resurface on Twitter recently, she was shocked.
Wang says accounts have been using her photos without her knowledge or consent to make false claims about “maskne,” or acne caused by wearing face masks. One post, which Wang shared, discouraged mask wearing and bashed public health officials.
“I’ve been seeing this a lot in the past few months … Random social media accounts (with a good # of followers) using my photos from #perioraldermatitis,” she wrote.
Wang took a leave of absence at the end of 2019 to take a break from wearing her anchor makeup to help treat her perioral dermatitis. She said the condition arose after she was prescribed topical steroids. Wang is back on the desk and the skin condition has subsided.
