Last week, meteorologists across the country wore wear purple to support women working in STEM careers.
Using the hashtag #DressforSTEM the weather anchors brought attention to the pay gap for women in various industries.
WDRB meteorologist Hannah Strong posted about the movement.
“We will wear purple to support women in STEM careers and those pursuing STEM education where we are underrepresented. I hope you join me by wearing purple Wednesday and posting a picture,” Storm said in a post.
According to a statistic Storm posted, women in science, technology, engineering, math-related jobs are paid 35 percent than women who are not.
Other weather anchors in markets across the country joined in to raise awareness about the pay gap.
