Meteorologist Mike Bennett Joining WTVT

Mike Bennett is joining WTVT, the Fox O&O in Tampa, as the weekend evening meteorologist.

“Growing up, I was always fascinated by Florida weather, from hurricanes to water spouts, and everything in between. Now as a Meteorologist, I’m excited to tackle these forecasting challenges of the area, while working with the best weather and news team in the Tampa Bay region,” Bennett said in a statement.

Bennett joins the station from WTEN in Albany, where he has worked since 2011. He has also worked at WYSR in Syracuse and as an intern at WCBS in New York City.

TAMPA – Mike Bennett has been named meteorologist for WTVT FOX 13, announced John Hoffman, the station’s Vice President and News Director.  Barrett will serve as the station’s  meteorologist on  weekend evening newscasts and fill in as needed on other newscasts.

In making the announcement, Hoffman stated, “We are pleased to welcome Mike to our weather team. With his experience, Mike will be an excellent addition to our distinguished team of forecasters,”

Bennett comes to WTVT from WTEN-TV in Albany, NY where he served as Broadcast Meteorologist. Earlier in his career, Bennett was Broadcast Meteorologist for WSYR-TV in Syracuse, NY and for Ithaca College Television. He began his career at WCBS-TV in New York as an intern.

A graduate of Cornell University, Bennett holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Atmospheric Science and is AMS certified
