Jackson, MS.    16 WAPT’s award winning weather team is even stronger today, adding meteorologist Brittany Bell as the station’s weekend evening weather expert.  Bell, a Mississippi State alum who graduated in three years with a 4.0 GPA, joins 16 WAPT from fellow Hearst TV stations KHBS/ KHOG in Ft. Smith/Rogers Arkansas.

” Weather has always been my passion, and I’m so fortunate that I have the opportunity to do what I love surrounded by my family and friends.”  Brittany grew up in Memphis, TN..   Her full time work in Northwest Arkansas was invaluable.  “While working there I gained experience covering almost everything mother nature had to offer; including tornadoes, flooding, snow, and droughts. I’m exciting to take on the challenge of working in another severe weather market.”

“David Hartman was the market’s first meteorologist a quarter century ago and set the standard for weather forecasting in Mississippi,” said WAPT President/GM Stuart Kellogg.  “Severe weather is a fact of life here and we make sure David’s team is only staffed by the highest quality professionals.  Brittany is a terrific addition to recently expanded four person team.”

16 WAPT Weather was again awarded Best Weathercast in the State from the Associated Press earlier this year.  16 WAPT also won its second straight Emmy for Best Newscast in the SE region.  Bell joins Chief Meteorologist David Hartman, morning Meteorologist Ethan Huston and weekend morning Meteorologist Adam McWilliams.
