Erik Schrader has been named president and gm of Media General’s CBS affiliate WIAT in Birmingham, Ala.
Schrader takes over for Helen Swenson who was named gm by LIN Media in 2013. Schrader comes from Media General’s Wichita station KSNW.
“It’s great to have Eric on board at WIAT,” said Stan Knott, vp of Broadcast Markets for Media General. “His success in delivering audiences in a connected screen world and improving revenue performance will be an asset for us.”

He’s also worked as news director at WTNH and WCTX in Hartford-New Haven, Conn.; KODE in Joplin, Mo.; KSPR in Springfield, Mo.; WJCL-WTGS in Savannah, Ga.; and WNEP in Scranton-Wilkes-Barre, Pa.
