Married WKBT anchors Jennifer Livingston and Mike Thompson have announced they are leaving the La Crosse, Wisc. CBS affiliate at the end of May.
“After nearly 45 years of combined employment at WKBT, we have made the very difficult decision to leave the station,” Livingston wrote on Facebook. “As you can imagine, working the opposite schedule as your spouse is very challenging. We have been able to make it work for so long because of the generous flexibility of WKBT and its parent company Morgan Murphy Media. Unfortunately, the needs of the station have changed and we are choosing to prioritize our family. We have had many amazing years here and will be forever grateful for the opportunities.”
Livingston, who is a morning anchor, started working at the station shortly after graduating from college in 1997. She’s been an anchor at the station for 11 years and made headlines in 2012 after addressing a viewer e-mail that bullied her over her weight.
Thompson, who anchors in the evenings, joined WKBT in 2004.
The couple said they had no post-WKBT plans yet, “but are excited about what the future holds.”
