Alex Allen Jenkins, the man accused of stealing a Houston police cruiser and attempting to carjack KPRC‘s news van, appeared in court and told a judge he targeted the live truck because he was low on gas.
Police say he had been committing other robberies that morning.
Reporter Sophia Ojeda and her photographer Damon Sales were heading to a story when Allen crashed into their vehicle. Both were unharmed.
Jenkins faces felony charges from the incident.
