By Andrew Gauthier

WMBF‘s Ashley Taylor was reporting live from Myrtle Beach during the NBC-affiliate’s 11 p.m. newscast on Wednesday when a young man grabbed her microphone, shoved her out of the way, and began yelling into the camera.

Taylor was reporting on a crackdown on crime in the area when the incident occurred. Police later arrested 20-year-old Justin Moore and charged him with misdemeanor assault and battery, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest.

After grabbing Taylor’s mic, Moore yelled “I am that [‘N’ word],” before WMBF cut away.

According to the police report, “4-5 black males” approached Taylor as she prepared to go live and stood around her. After Moore’s surprise cameo on WMBF, he ran off “laughing and yelling.”

Taylor and her photographer shared video of the incident with the police, who eventually found Moore a few blocks away. He was arrested after Taylor positively IDed him.

Taylor returned to work Thursday afternoon.
