WPIX morning reporter Kirstin Cole was doing live hits from Hudson Yards in New York Wednesday morning when a man accosted her and her camera crew, breaking some of the station’s gear, Cole said today.
“Another Attack on Journalists: this man attacked our gear and threatened us at this morning while doing a live shot,” Cole tweeted along with a picture of the alleged culprit. “Lots of profanity, tossed his cigarette at us. Broke a light. But fortunately security got here and intervened.”
The incident happened around 10 a.m. Cole and her photographer are both OK.
It’s the latest incident of reporters being accosted in New York. TVSpy reported last month that WABC reporter Diana Rocco was spit in the eye at Penn Station, leading to an eye infection.
