Maira Ansari has been named the new co-anchor of the 3 p.m. newscast for Louisville NBC affiliate WAVE. Ansari will also co-anchor the 5 and 6 p.m. newscast alongside John Boel.
Ansari replaces Shannon Cogan, who now anchors WAVE Sunrise and WAVE News Midday. In June, the station announced morning anchor team of Connie Leonard and Brian Shlonsky would be replaced, with Leonard moving to the WAVE Troubleshooters team and Shlonsky moving to evenings as a reporter.
Ansari has worked at the station since 2007 and has been anchoring on the station’s digital and streaming platform. She also reports the evening newscasts.
