Luis Gerardo Núñez to Rejoin Telemundo 47 New York

Luis Gerardo Núñez has rejoined Telemundo 47 (WNJU) as a general assignment reporter. His first day is Monday, September 23.

“This is a very special day for me. Telemundo 47 has always been a second home, with the station team a second family,” said Núñez. “It is a blessing to return to the Tri-State and serve the community – one that I have missed and deeply love. I look forward to telling their stories as a member of the Telemundo 47 news team and cannot wait to get back to work.”

Núñez worked at WNJU from 2016 to 2020 before working at Telemundo Houston (KTMD) for four years. Before that, Núñez worked as an anchor and reporter for Telemundo 39 in Dallas, Texas, as a reporter for Telemundo 51 in Miami, and as a reporter for WGEN-MundoFOX 8 in South Florida.

“Luis is an exceptional journalist and a wonderful person. He was beloved by our community during his time here and I know our viewers will welcome him back with open arms. We are thrilled to welcome Luis back to the Telemundo 47 news team,” said Alexa Rodriguez, Telemundo 47 news director.

A native of Venezuela, Núñez began his career as a reporter for Globovision, the Caracas-based 24-hour news network serving Spanish-language viewers in Venezuela, the Caribbean and throughout Latin America. He earned a bachelor’s degree with honors in Social Communication Sciences from the Universidad Monteávila, in Caracas, Venezuela. He was also awarded a master’s degree in communication sciences, with a mention in multimedia, from Florida International University (FIU).
