“After ten years … Seven moves … Four markets … And countless stories … I’ll be signing off for the last time on October 1st,” Helmer wrote. “To those in the community—thank you for the honor of sharing your stories. Thank you for welcoming me into your homes, businesses and lives. Thank you for your trust and support.”

Helmer will be staying in the Louisville area, calling it her “home for the last five years.”

“Leaving news is one of the most difficult decisions I’ve had to make. But for the sake of my health and my family, it’s time to make a career switch,” she wrote. “Even though I won’t be gracing your TV screens, I’ll be staying in Louisville.”

Prior to WDRB, Helmer held roles at WMBF, WTOL and WISE/WPTA.
