Lori Waldon Promoted to President and General Manager of KOAT

Hearst Television has promoted Lori Waldon, KCRA-KQCA‘s news director and the regional director of news, to president and general manager of the company’s Albuquerque property.

Waldon will oversee KOAT’s news team effective January 1. She will succeed Mary Lynn Roper, a New Mexico broadcasting icon.

“Lori is an accomplished, award-winning journalist with an outstanding record of leadership,” said Jordan Wertlieb, Hearst Television president. “Lori brings the experience, skills and reputation to build upon the exceptional work of Mary Lynn and the KOAT team.”

Under her leadership, the NBC affiliate earned a Edward R. Murrow Award for Overall News Excellence. Waldon joined KCRA from WISN in Milwaukee, Wisc. where she was the state’s first African American news director.

Waldon’s successor at KCRA-KQCA news director will be announced at a later date.
