Longtime Rochester Reporter Loses Battle With Cancer

Longtime Rochester sports reporter Mike Hedeen lost his battle with cancer.

He was known as Mo at Spectrum News Rochester for 28 years.

“It is a sad time here and we send our condolences to Mike’s family. He’s survived by Trish, his wife of nearly 31 years, his son Dan and daughter Kristen, his son-in-law Dave and his granddaughter Harper,” said a statement on the station’s website.

Hedeen’s on-air career began in sports at KBJR in Duluth, Minnesota. He came to Rochester, NY and began covering major sports events including the 1995 Ryder Cup, LPGA championships and basketball games. In 2006, he transitioned into news.

He was a member of the Boys and Girls Club of Rochester and won serval awards for his work.

Heeden retired last year.
