Longtime Nashville Anchor Calls Out Station for Lack of Diversity

Nashville’s first African-American anchor says she is disappointed in her former station for its lack of diversity.

Longtime WKRN anchor Anne Holt spoke to the Tennessean saying there is only one full-time African-American anchor of color after the station announced its traffic reporter Paige Hill is leaving.

“I’ve made no secret of being disappointed that we don’t have [more] representation on air,” Holt told The Tennessean. “It’s a concern for me. I wish we had a different makeup,” she said.

Holt was the ABC affiliate’s first African-American anchor in 1980. She now does weekly segments for the station.
