Longtime Long Island News Anchor Retires

By Stephanie Tsoflias Siegel

Longtime News 12 Long Island anchor and reporter, Drew Scott, anchored his last newscast this weekend.

He told viewers that he’s stepping down after 47 years in the news business.

“I plan to spend more time with family and help in the fight against #Opioidaddiction in honor of my grand daughter #HallieRaeUlrich – it’s not goodbye, just so long for now,” he said in a Facebook post.

Over the summer, Scott’s granddaughter, Hallie, died from a Heroin overdose after struggling with addiction.

“You’ve been an amazing audience, and my colleagues have been a second family to me,” Scott said. “I thank all of you for that.”

Scott has anchored the weekend evening newscasts at News 12 for the past 16 years.
