Longtime KVOA Anchor Leaving TV After Contract Expires

mcnamara kvoa croppedTom McNamara has announced he is leaving Tucson NBC affiliate KVOA after his contract expires in December to go into real estate.

“Investing in real estate has been a passion of mine for several years now,” McNamara said in a statement. “KVOA and I have been discussing my desire for change for many months.  I appreciate how patient & supportive they have been through this process.”

McNamara started at KVOA in July 1997. He’s worked either as a reporter or an anchor in Scranton, Pa., Raleigh, N.C., Phoenix, Oklahoma City and Tucson.

“We’ve been aware of Tom’s intentions for a couple of years now,” said Bill Shaw, KVOA president & GM. “He’s been upfront with us on his desire to expand his local business. We fully support him and wish him all the best.”

The station said McNamara’s replacement would be named later.
