Veteran Knoxville meteorologist Mike Witcher is making a return.
He left WBIR in 2014 to take a job with Weather Nation in Denver, Colorado.
“My family and I couldn’t be happier to be coming back home, to East Tennessee. We are excited to get back where we left off and look forward to building new friendships in a community we called home for nearly ten years,” Witcher said in a statement on the station website.
The Tegna-owned station has started running promos in advance of his return on May 8 to the morning show, 10News Today.
“We are thrilled to welcome Mr. Witcher back to East Tennessee and the 10News team, and look forward to introducing him to all of the new viewers in our area,” said station president and general manager, David Hunt.
Witcher will join anchors Russel Biven and Abby Ham.
